Haverhill — Ruth M. Corcoran died peacefully in her sleep on November 3, 2013, under the loving care of her family.
She was the wife of the late Leonard R. Corcoran, who died on March 14, 2013, after 70 years of marriage. Ruth was born on June 15, 1921, in Haverhill, Mass., to William A. and Alphonsa C. (Ryan) Maguire.
A graduate of Lowell State Teachers College, Ruth was a first grade teacher at the Peabody School in Bradford for many years.
Ruth was the mother of eight children, Tom Corcoran of Braintree, Stephen Corcoran of Bradford, Larry Corcoran of Haverhill, Martha Corcoran of Newburyport, Andrew Corcoran of Bradford, Mary (Corcoran) Senior of Bradford, Monica Corcoran of Newburyport, and Margo (Corcoran) Howard of Haverhill; and grandmother to 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard; her sister, Eleanor (Maguire) Barker; her three brothers, John, William and Edward Maguire; and her grandson, Kevin Howard.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 7, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main Street, Bradford. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. At Ruth’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
