Exeter, NH — David R. Stanley, 63, of Exeter, died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson, Fla.
He was born in Newburyport, Mass., on September 8, 1950, and was a son of the late Samuel R. and Anna I. (Lalibertie) Stanley.
He attended Winnacunnet High School, and was a Vietnam era veteran serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Stanley learned the paving business starting in 1973, from his father and uncles, and continued his entire life. He was the owner and operator of Custom Paving of Hampton.
He had resided in Exeter since 1998, coming from Hampton. He was a member of the Hampton’s American Legion Post 35, St. James Lodge 102 F&A.M. of Hampton, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Portsmouth and Dover, and the Bektash Temple Shrine.
Family members include his sons, David R. Stanley Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Downey, Calif., Samuel R. Stanley and his wife, Bonnie, of Portsmouth, and William P. Stanley and his wife, Ashley, of Newmarket; daughter, Sara Stevens and husband, Kyle, of Hampton Falls; brothers, Henry M. Stanley of Florida, and James E. Stanley of Epping; sisters, Isabelle E. McDonald of Epping, Jennie A. Poulin of Raymond, Lydia P. Stanley of Hampton, and Elaine P. Stanley of Manchester; stepsons, Ralph Basiliere, and Eric Basiliere, both of Haverhill, Mass.; stepdaughter, Lee Ann Basiliere of Methuen, Mass.; 18 grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a stepson, Matthew Basiliere.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, February 28, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, in the funeral home. Burial will be held in the spring at Center Cemetery, North Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
