Ethel Wood Pollard, 99

Hampton, NH — Ethel Wood Pollard, 99, of Hampton, lovingly known to all as Nana, died peacefully, Sunday, July 28, 2013, at home with family.

She was born in Denton, England, on June 17, 1914, coming to the states at age 8, and resided in North Andover, Mass., for many years. She worked for the former Osgood Mills as a spinner, later retiring from Raytheon, and moving to Hampton to make her home with her daughter and grandchildren.

Her greatest talent was playing the piano and giving lessons to many. She loved her daily walks on the beach, loved to cook, and traveled well into her 90s. She was well-known for her banana nut breads in coffee cans during the holidays and batches of her special recipe meatballs. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends playing the piano.

She loved a good mystery and would read five books a week, she loved to dance, enjoyed dining out for lobster, and her tea and cookies. At age 70, she became an artist and did many paintings. Her love of life, people, having fun, always smiling, wanting to go places, and her positive outlook and great spirit will always be an inspiration to all that loved and respected her. She was so much fun. She loved to listen and share stories with her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was AWESOME.

She leaves her daughter, Diana Connell of Hampton; five grandchildren, Deborah Billian, Linda Follansbee, Stephen, Todd and Douglas Connell; six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
