Tucson, AZ — Jim McMorrow will return to Methuen, Mass., August 24 for his Memorial Service at St. Monica's Church. Jim was born in Lawrence General on Mother's Day, May 12, 1940, to WWII Major John McMorrow and his wife, Grace (Johnson).
A 1958 graduate of Tenney High, Jim received his BS from Merrimack College, class of 1962. He helped found the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, Omega Chapter, at Merrimack. In his senior year Jim was chosen as the first recipient of the Omega Award given each year to the brother who has done the most for the fraternity during that school year.
In 1963 Jim earned his MBA from UMass, Amherst, and was recruited by Western Electric where he became their youngest Assistant Manager. He served in the Army Reserves reaching the rank of sergeant in the New York Finance Corps.
In 1989, after transferring to, and working many years at AT&T, Jim retired from the Controller's Division in Parsippany, N.J. He then started a second career at ADP as a Total Time asset analyst. However, in 1997, suffering from chronic Lyme Disease, he moved west with his family to relax and enjoy Tucson, Ariz. There he volunteered for the classical radio station and the Redemptorist Renewal Center, which held his funeral following his death from lung cancer, December 2, 2012.
An 11 a.m. memorial Mass will be offered August 24, 2013, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Methuen. Jim will be buried with his parents in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Wallace McMorrow, Merrimack class of 1965, of Tucson, Ariz.; his daughter, Deborah Grace of Tucson; son, Steven George of Tempe, Ariz., and son, Brian James, a pilot based in Dubai, UAE. Jim is also survived by his brother, Philip and his wife, Maria (Napoli), of Methuen, and their children, Paul of Malden, Andy of Englewood, Colo., Andrea Hutchinson of Sparks, Nev., and Christine Sciacca of Merrimac, Mass.
