Portsmouth, NH — Rosemary T. ( Dobson) Collins, formerly of Hampton, N.H., and Methuen, Mass., passed away peacefully in her sleep following an extended period of declining health at The Mark Wentworth Home in Portsmouth, N.H., on August 19, 2013.
Born April 17, 1926, in Lawrence, Mass., she was the daughter of the late David A. Dobson and Mary (McParland) Dobson. She was raised in Lawrence, a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 1947 graduate of Radcliffe College. She was predeceased
by her beloved husband, Attorney Thomas H. Collins, her dear brother, David A. Dobson, Jr., and her baby sister, Margaret L. Dobson, M.D. She is survived by her
beloved children, Anne Collins Hodsdon and her husband, C. Thomas Hodsdon, David J. Collins, Christine J. Collins, Ellen Tara Collins Galvin and her husband, John R. Galvin, and Thomas H. Collins, Jr. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Sean C. Collins and his wife, Rita G. Ochoa, Tara A. Galvin, David T. Collins, Erin M. Galvin and Morganne B. Hodsdon, as well as numerous beloved cousins and friends.
Rosemary lived a life devoted to her husband, Tom, and their combined efforts to care for and nurture their children and extended family members. Rosemary was an amazing mother, wife, friend, and caregiver with a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. She found endless joy in celebrating holidays, special events and everyday meals with her delicious recipes and exquisite hand-made decorations. She enjoyed countless days of
sun and fun on the golf course with Tom and her many golf girls as a longtime member of Abenaqui and Vesper Country Clubs. She generously volunteered throughout her life to many community organizations, her parishes, and her children's schools.
Rosemary will always be remembered for her gracious style, enormous heart, and gentle spirit. The family extends their warmest gratitude to the countless caregivers, who over the past 8 years provided our special Mom and Grandmother with tender and compassionate care.
