Alexandria, NH — Gerard V. Raymond, Sr., 71, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., the son of Joseph and Mythel (Collins) Raymond. While living in Haverhill he worked as a foreman for Bye Rite Foods.
After moving to N.H., Gerard and his family were home care providers for clients with disabilities. They worked hard to make sure that these clients felt a part of his family. He also ran a second hand store, The Big R Barn.
Gerard was a life member of the Elks.
Family members include his wife of 53 years, Carole (Legacy) Raymond of Alexandria; children, Lisa (Mike) Young of Acton, Maine, Jonathan Raymond of Haverhill, Mass., Jeffery (Cassandra) Raymond of Plaistow, Christine (Randy) Rhude of Alexandria, Kim (Mark) Lewis of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister, Pamela Davies of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Eleanor Raymond of Haverhill, Mass.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; great aunt, Joanne Raymond of Rochester; several nieces and nephews and those he considered to be like family, Claudia Beltram and Cory Donlon. He was predeceased by one son, Gerard V. Raymond, Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 18, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Chapel, 2 West Shore Road, Bristol. An Elks service and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Franklin Elks, 190 Central St., Franklin, NH 03235. Arrangements by Emmons Funeral Home of Bristol.
