Salisbury — Donald K. Willey, 79, of Salisbury, died on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Maplewood Center in Amesbury, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Benton, Maine, on May 27, 1934, and was a son of the late Frank S. and Ruth J. (Norton)
Willey. He attended Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine.
Mr. Willey owned and operated a gas station in Salisbury, and later the former Triad Trans Trucking Co. of Salisbury. He was also a commercial fisherman, and was a member of the Yankee Fisherman’s Co-op in Seabrook, N.H. In the summer months, for 10 years, he was the captain of his own fishing boat in Alaska.
He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATVs, and most any sport outdoors. He was also a member of Amity-Mosaic Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Danvers.
He was the husband of Joan M. McGilvray of Salisbury.
In addition to his wife, family members include his son, Robert Willey and wife, Kathy, of Melrose, Cynthia Bodio and husband, Joseph, of Walpole, Deborah Marshall and husband, Ross, of Wells, Maine, Carol Parr and husband, Walter, of Carlsbad, N.M., and Lynn Trahan and husband, David, of Sandown, N.H.; his brother, Randall Willey of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Arthur and Winthrop Willey; and his sister, Alice Smith.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 16, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, N.H. Services will be held at noon, on Thursday, October 17, in the funeral home. A calling hour will also be held from 11 to noon, prior to the service on Thursday.
