Jeanne E. Scandura, 82


Salisbury, MA — Jeanne E. (Towne) Scandura, RN, 82, of Salisbury passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Alfeo Scandura, the love of her life, and the former wife of the late Francis R. Shottes. She was born in Methuen, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma (Benway) Towne.

Mrs. Scandura was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School, class of 1949 and Lawrence General Nursing School, class of 1952 where she received her R.N. degree. She worked as an R.N. at Lawrence General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell. She was also a night supervisor at Ormond Beach Hospital in Florida and retired after 45 years of service as an R.N.

She was an Alumni Rainbow Girl and was a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge and Lawrence General Hospital Alumni.

Mrs. Scandura is survived by her daughters, Thelma wife of Michael Regan of Wellington, Maine, Debra Thompson wife of Eustace of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Karen Vitale of Salisbury, Mass.; Susan wife of the late Robert Bailey of Wellington, Maine; Andrea wife of Mark Frounjian of Salem, New Hampshire; Nancy Robertson of Palm Beach Florida; Jennifer wife of John Spina of Manchester, New Hampshire. Two sons, Michael Shottes husband of Denise of Methuen, Mass., Eric Shottes husband of Lorraine of Hudson, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her brothers, Howard Towne of Port Orange, Florida; Theodore Towne of North Hampton, Mass., her sister, Louise "Buzzy" Levick of Northampton, Mass. She has left a village of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne was predeceased by three daughters, Linda, Brenda, Cynthia Shottes and her sister, Helen wife of Louis Forte of New Smyrna, Florida; brothers, Charles C. Towne of Andover Mass., and Robert W. Towne of North Hampton, Mass.

Jeanne was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother. Her great humor and love will be embedded in the heart and souls of all who had the honor of knowing her. In remembrance of Jeanne she asked, only if you can, to plant a Trinity of White Birches in honor of her in your own special place. She will be greatly missed.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, November 10, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Jeanne’s funeral service will take place Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 57 Peter St., No. Andover. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Methuen.
