Roger L. LaPointe, Sr., 73

Methuen, MA — Roger was born and raised in Winchendon, MA . He, his late parents, Yvonne and Fern LaPointe and his brother Robert later relocated to Hartford, CT.

Roger worked for Treadway Inns in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida and New York. He also worked for Finance Sales Used Cars, a family-run business, Wall's Lincoln-Mercury and Galaxie Vacuum. In later years, he did land consulting. He served his country in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis. After his tour of duty in Europe, he returned to Treadway Inns. This brought him to the opening of the Treadway Inns by the Falls in Lawrence in 1964. It was during this time in Lawrence that he met his wife the former Shirley Kalil. Roger was an outgoing, friendly person who always had a good joke and enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone he met. His smile and outgoing personality will be missed by all, especially his loving nieces and nephews. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most of all, he cherished his family and time spent with them.

In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his devoted children, Roger, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Georgetown and daughter Jean and her husband Christopher Trim of West Newbury, and his grandchildren Paul, Ryan and Steven LaPointe, Sarah, Austin and Robert Trim. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Joan Breen, Dr. Sandra Senno and their wonderful, caring staffs at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, Out-Patient and Home Health Services for the excellent care Roger received. They, and the friends he made all contributed to Roger's time at Whittier a pleasant experience.

We also appreciate Roger's doctors and staff at Lahey Clinic in Burlington who oversaw Roger's care for many years.
