Santa Barbara, CA — John L. Sullivan of Santa Barbara, Calif., (formerly of Lawrence), passed on August 15, 2013. He was born to Timothy J. Sullivan, Sr. and Margaret Sullivan. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Timothy J. Sullivan, Jr. He served in the Navy for 27 years. He retired in 1967 after serving in three wars, many in submarines. He served 15 years in California State Health Services, retiring in 1982. He was an avid golfer and physical fitness advocate and a longtime member of the YMCA. He was an usher at St. Raphael's Church, a member of Vets WWII, MOAA, and many other organizations. He leaves his constant companion and dear friend, Vivian; his 6 children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Bernice Sullivan of Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Santa Barbara, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
