Lowell, MA — Alice R. (Mardirosian) Manoian, 86, of Lowell, passed away on Friday August 16, 2013, at home. She was the wife of the late Samuel (Sahag) Manoian.
She was born April 17, 1927, in Marseille, France. She grew up in Lawrence, then later in Methuen, where she was a graduate of Searles High School and Boston's Chandler School for Women. Alice had a successful career in local banking, then later at the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1958, she married Samuel (Sahag) Manoian, and settle in Lowell. Upon the untimely passing of Sam in 1974, she carried on with courage and boundless love, raising and guiding her family with confidence, happiness, knowledge, and strength. With her circle of friends, she passionately lived her life to the fullest.
Alice was a communicant and longtime member of Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church in Chelmsford. She loved her Armenian culture, creating great meals, growing flowers, the New England oceanfront, and taking grand auto tours. Her favorite poetic passage that she loved to share was from Longfellow, "And the thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts."
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Manoian) Clark and her husband, Paul; her son, Alan S. Manoian; her grandson, Benjamin S. Clark; her three nephews, Ara, Daniel and Dick Tutunjian; and her grandniece and grandnephew, Kara and Damon Tutunjian. She was also predeceased by her parents, Eknadios and Jouvar Mardirosian; a sister and brother-in-law, Azniv and Hovanes (John) Tutunjian.
ARRANGEMENTS: You are invited to her calling hours, from 4 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, August 20. On Wednesday, her funeral will begin at 10 a.m., at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816. Her funeral service will be held in Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
