Laura E. (McNamara) Brown

Haverhill — After a brief illness, Laura (McNamara) Brown passed into the hands of Our Lord on August 18.

She was born in Bradford (Haverhill), Mass., on December 12, 1925, to Lawrence I. and Laura (Lennox) McNamara.

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Rutherford, N.J., and in 1948, earning a bachelor's degree from Marywood College, Scranton Pa., Laura began a more than 30-year career as a dietitian at the Polyclinic Hospital in Manhattan and St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, N.J. She lived for many years in Rutherford, and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and was past President of Post 139, Lyndhurst, N.J., before returning to Haverhill in 1997.

Laura was predeceased by her loving husband, John Brown, and five siblings.

She will be missed and remembered by her sister, Joan Vehrkens of Garfield, N.J.; brother, John M. McNamara and his wife, Uta of, Vancouver, B.C.; 10 nephews; a niece; and many friends and relatives.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, August 28, at 10 a.m., from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main Street, Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J. Calling hours at the Bradford Funeral Home will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
