Newburyport — John A. Des Ormeaux, 89, of Newburyport, Mass., passed away peacefully at his home on Plum Island as he wished, on August 20, 2013.
He was born on May 12, 1924 in Haverhill, Mass., and was the son of the late Paul and Catherine (McCarron) Des Ormeaux.
He was husband to the late Dorothy J. (Whittaker) Des Ormeaux, and father to the late Ann Holt, who passed away in March of this year, and her husband, Raymond Holt of Raymond, N.H.
He is also survived by his daughters, Jade Des Ormeaux of Mendon, Mass., Vale Van Doorne and her husband, Maurice, of Newburyport, Leyt Foster and her partner, Donald McCoy of Newburyport, Pirre' (Pete) Mitchell and her husband, Ken, of Salisbury, Mass., and one son, John A. Des Ormeaux, Jr. and his wife, Beverley, of Amesbury.
He had 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his brother, Russell Des Ormeaux and his wife, Martha; brother-in-law, Joseph Donahue; sister-in-law, Edith Des Ormeaux; brother and sister-in-law James and Gail Whittaker; and several nieces and nephews.
He attended Haverhill Public Schools, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1940. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was founder and owner of Stitch Rite Corporation, formerly of Haverhill, and Technico Inc., formerly of Plaistow, N.H.
ARRANGEMENTS: At Dad's request there will be no services.
