Harry W. House, 87

Raymond, NH — Harry W. House, 87, died on September 6, 2013, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, N.H., after a period of failing health.

He was born on April 10, 1926, in Jerseyville, Ill., and was the son of the late Harry F. House and Nona (Gillespie) House. Harry grew up in Jerseyville and was one of six children.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942, during WWII, until 1950. Harry worked as a machinist and a foreman with Ingersoll-Rand in Nashua, N.H., for many years.He lived for over 30 years in Salem, N.H., with his first wife, Jane House, who died in 1997. Harry married Anna (Storey) McCabe and had resided in Raymond for the past 15 years. After his retirement, he worked part-time as a security guard at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem.

Harry was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church, the Salem VFW Post# 8546, the Maple-Wheadon VFW Post#4479 in Raymond, and the Welch-Hurd American Legion Post# 90 in Raymond.

He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Harry was also predeceased by a son, John House, who died in 2008.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna House of Raymond; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Ronan of Spokane, Wash., and Kurt and Elizabeth House of Sandown, N.H.; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Penny and David Lynch of Massachusetts, Diane Kimball of New Hampshire, Kathy Lafferty of Rochester, N.H., Kelley and Michael Johnson of Salem, Jo-ann House of Laconia, N.H., and Kimberly Ross of Epping, N.H.: six stepchildren, William Brown, of West Chelmsford, Mass., Diane O’Brien of Alton, N.H., Janice McCabe of Raymond, N.H., Joyce McCabe of Loudon, N.H., Sandra Murphy of Raymond, and Martha McCabe of Camden, N.H.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Jackie Whitman of Jerseyville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Raymond Baptist Church, Raymond. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Raymond.
