Hampton, NH — William Wildes, 77, of Hampton, formerly of Haverhill, died Friday, May 17, 2013, after a long illness at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with his loving family by his bedside.
He was born in Haverhill, February 1, 1936, a son of the late Raymond and Sarah (Young) Wildes.
Mr. Wildes was raised in Haverhill. He was an outstanding roller skater and was very successful in dance roller skating competitions held at Skateland in Haverhill. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard, where he enlisted at 17 years old. After the service, Bill worked at Hale Hospital in Haverhill for several years and most recently as a maintenance man at Shawsheen Village. He moved to Hampton in 1990. Bill also worked as a volunteer at the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival for many years.
Bill was the husband of the late Sandra (Bourque) Wildes who died in August of 2008.
Family members his daughter, Wendy Medolo and her husband, Andrew, of East Hampstead, N.H.; his son, William Wildes, Jr. and his partner, Hector Hamel, of Newmarket, N.H.; his brothers, Raymond Wildes of Florida, Robert Wildes and his wife, Donna, of Lawrence, and Luther Wildes and his wife, Katherine, of Haverhill; his only grandson, James Sulesky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and John Wildes; his sister, Marjorie Devito; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Wildes.
ARRANGEMENTS: A time of gathering and sharing memories of Bill will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
