METHUEN — Robert E. Gurka, 51, of Methuen died Thursday evening surrounded by his loving family at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston.
Robert was born in Methuen on May 8, 1962, to the late Dr. Joseph P. and Sheila (Gibbons) Gurka.
He attended Methuen Grammar Schools and was a graduate of Methuen High School, Class of 1980.
Robert owned and operated Gurka & Company Trucking and Construction.
He enjoyed trips to the mountains, long walks on the beach, and most of all spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Touma) Gurka of Methuen; and his cherished daughter, Jessica Gurka, also of Methuen. He is also survived by his four brothers, James Gurka of Methuen, Steven Gurka of Methuen, Dr. Gary Gurka and his wife, Ann, of Watertown, and Dr. Joseph Gurka of Methuen. Also amoung his survivors are his mother-in-law, Phyllis Touma; sister-in-law, Tina Conway and her husband, Brian; and godsons Michael Thomas and Tony Conway.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in St Anthony's Cemetery in Methuen. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
