Haverhill — Charles M. Magras, 92, of Haverhill, died Wednesday morning, October 3, at Hannah Duston Healthcare, Haverhill.
He was born in Haverhill, September 25, 1920 son of the late Michael and Katherine (Panitsa) Magras.
His family moved to Greece when he was young, and he lived there for over 20 years. He came back to Haverhill in the mid 1940’s and was employed as a leather stripper for Brockton Stay Shoe Co. and as a salesman for “Six Little Tailors”, Boston. For over 30 years he was employed at Sears Roebuck, Co. working in the Haverhill, Lowell, Methuen and Salem, N.H. stores. A longtime member of the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, Haverhill, Mr. Magras was a former ham radio operator.
He was the husband of the late Angelina “Kiki” (Poulos) Magras who died in 1989, brother of the late Peter and John Magras and father-in-law of the late Elias Tsantarliotis. His survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Tsantarliotis of Methuen; a son, Michael Magras and his wife Diane of Freeport, Maine; a brother, George Magras of Ariz.; three grandchildren, Debra and Amy Tsantarliotis, Benjamin Magras and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday afternoon, October 5, at 1 in Holy Apostles, Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. A visitation period will precede the funeral service on Friday from 11:30-12:30 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill.
