Methuen — Alice (Donabedian) Der Apkarian, 88, of Methuen died on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Alice was born in Lawrence, the daughter of the late, Stepan and Aghavny ( Kessedjian) Donabedian. She was a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School and went to work at Tyer Rubber Company to help with the war effort. While raising her family, she worked at Western Electric Company, North Andover and retired from Raytheon Company in 1986. Alice was a longtime, faithful member of St Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, North Andover, where she was a member of the church Ladies Guild and The Garmir Khatch (Armenian Red Cross). She enjoyed family, friends and cooking and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family members include her husband of 63 years, Aram Der Apkarian of Methuen and her daughters, Karen Minassian of Haverhill and Sandra Sharke Der Apkarian with whom she made her home in Methuen. Alice also leaves her grandchildren, Kristen Mikitarian and her husband, Reno Mikitarian of Millbury, John Aram Minassian of Haverhill and Melanie Tokatlian and her husband, Haroot Tokatlian of Windham, N.H. She leaves two great-grandchildren, Garen John Tokatlian and Sarine Sophie Tokatlian.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Friday October 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. in St Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 158 Main Street, North Andover. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
