North Andover — Pauline D. Downes, 86, died at her North Andover home on June 17. Born in Lowell, Mass., July 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Marie Ducharme. She attended Somerville High School, and was a supervisor for Sears Roebuck, a secretary at Andover Memorial Library, and was the manager and a bookkeeper for the Andover Thrift Shop for many years.
Pauline enjoyed knitting and rug making. She made seven Oriental rugs that are cherished by her family. She loved her retirement home in North Andover that she and her husband, Donald built in 1974.
She leaves her husband, Donald, of 65 years; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ray Stout of Cape Coral, Fla.; and her son and daughter-in- law, James and Linda Downes of Haverhill, Mass.; her grandchildren, Anthony and Mary Bartley of Somers, Conn., Lisa and Joseph Pickard of Danville, Calif., James and Kristin Downes of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Andrea and Matthew Raciti of Atkinson, N.H. She also leave her six great-grandchildren, Meagan, Anthony James, Emma, Julia, Kayla and Layla; her sisters, Theresa Stevens, Linda and Anthony (Chick) Langone; her brothers, Leo and Rita Ducharme, and Paul and Jackie Ducharme. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m., in the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover. Internment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
