North Reading — Harriet R. (Weisgerber) Alexander, 85, of North Reading, died on Thursday, June 20 in Kennebunk, Maine. She was the loving wife of the late Davis Alexander.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Irene (Ackerman) Weisgerber. She graduated high school in Cincinnati and later attended the University of Cincinnati.
Throughout most of her life, Harriet was employed as a librarian, and was a homemaker. Harriet’s laughter was contagious. She had strong family values, and a generosity of heart and spirit. She had an extraordinary ability to pull a family together amidst the best and worst of situations. She had an unending capacity for love and endurance, love for her children, grandchildren, and friends, old and new. She had rhythm and loved to dance. Harriet loved the family cottage on Lake Mousam.
She loved dance, tennis, golf, cooking, and entertaining for the holidays, and was an avid reader. Harriet and her husband Davis were ambassadors for Compassionate Friends, and helped the Parents of Murdered Children.
She was the loving mother of Nancy Alexander of Wilton, N.H., Cathy Buyck and her husband, Steven of Acton, Maine; mother of the late Marianne and D. Bruce Alexander; and sister of the late Mary Jane Warren. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading, on Friday, June 28, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St., Route 62, North Reading. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
