Haverhill, MA — Dorothy M. (Sylvester) Schiavoni, 77, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at her home in Haverhill surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Philip A. Schiavoni, who died June 26, 2004.
Born in Montpelier, Vermont on May 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie A. (Bacon) Sylvester Noury and was educated in the Haverhill school system.
She had worked at Ted’s Hair Salon, Western Electric and as a constable at the Haverhill Auxiliary Police with her late husband.
A lifelong animal advocate, she enjoyed music, belly dancing and collecting modern music memorabilia.
She is survived by a stepson, Philip A. Schiavoni, Jr. of Stamford, CT; two grandchildren; a brother, Adolph “Al” Sylvester and wife Rose of Buckeye, Arizona; nieces, Kathryn Guillette and Barbara-Jean Sylvester; nephew, Robert Sylvester; grandnieces, Toni Lavin and Beth Riskallah; a grand nephew, Jon Sylvester, and sister-in-law, Dolly George. She was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Simon and a brother, Gilbert A. Sylvester.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at Paul C. Rogers Family-Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 10-11 A.M. immediately followed by funeral services at 11 A.M. and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
