Haverhill — Norma R. (Litvack) Halpern, 89, of Haverhill, passed away on Friday, April 18, at Holy Family Hospital.
She was born in Lynn, Mass., on May 4, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Louis and Lena (Stolzberg) Litvack. She was a graduate of Lynn English, Class of 1941, and later, from Salem State Teachers College, Class of 1945. Norma was a business teacher at Merrimac High School and was also bookkeeper for the family’s business, Haverhill Fruit & Produce.
Norma was a member of Temple Emanu-El in Haverhill, lifetime member of Hadassah, of which she was Woman of the Year in 1998.
She was the beloved wife of the late Irving A. Halpern, who died on July 20, 1977, and is survived by her son, Alan M. Halpern and his wife, Kristen, of Goffstown, N.H.; her daughter, Renee D. Graham of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Toby Halpern, and Robin Gerowitz and her husband, Yaniv; great-grandchildren, Leah and Yocheved Gerowitz; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Iris Pollack and Leonard Litvack.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m., at Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill. Interment will follow in Pride of Lynn Cemetery. A memorial period will be held at her residence Tuesday following the interment until 9 p.m., and also on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are by the H.L.
