Haverhill — Kathleen T. Gogas, 88, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, April 17, at Penacook Place Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, George S. and Mary B. (Collins) Gogas. Educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of St. James Grammar School and St. James High School, Class of 1945.
Miss Gogas was employed as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. throughout her entire career, serving the company for 40 years, retiring in 1985. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and summers at the cottage she shared with her sisters at Hampton Beach.
Kathleen is survived by her two brothers, George Gogas, of Haverhill, and Joseph A. Gogas, of Plaistow, N.H.,; her two sisters, with whom she had lived, Anna E. Gogas, and Mary M. “Molly” Gogas, both of Haverhill. Kathleen was predeceased by her sister, Frances J. McGrath; and her brother, William G. “Gerry” Gogas. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews, William “Jay” Gogas of Hampton Beach, N.H., Shawn M. Gogas of Alexandria, Va., Christopher “Chris” Gogas of St Cloud, Fla., Michele M. Gogas of Haverhill, Joseph Gogas II of Toronto, Canada, Cheryl Gogas, of Plaistow, Cheyenne Silva of Haverhill, Molly Elizabeth Gogas, of Plaistow, and Jonathan Gogas of Plaistow; and several other nieces and nephews
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend funeral services for Miss Gogas on Tuesday morning, at 11 a.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A calling hour will be held prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Primrose St., Haverhill.
