Haverhill, MA — Deborah M. (Gardella) Britigan, 57, of Haverhill, died on May 3, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late James and Marie (Bourbeau) Gardella, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1975. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in language from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1979 and was fluent in five languages. She later received an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from Northern Essex Community College and was employed at Mattapan Rehabilitation Hospital.
As a young woman, she worked in retail management. Most recently she enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker to her husband and two sons. A member of All Saints Parish, Mrs. Britigan was an avid reader and collected dolls. She enjoyed trips to the beach as well as camping and fishing with her family. A devoted animal lover of cats and dogs, she especially loved her dogs Bingo, Zoe, and Mimi.
She is survived by her loving husband, William E. Britigan; her sons, James W. Britigan and Jeffrey W. Britigan all of Haverhill; and a sister, Vivienne Main of Santa Barbara, Calif. She was predeceased by her loving grandmother, Bertha Bourbeau, to whom she was very close.
ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill.
