Methuen — Albert E. Hertrich, 90, of Methuen died on Monday March 4. 2013 at Academy Manor, Andover, surrounded by his loving family.
Al was born and raised in Lawrence and was a 1941 graduate of Lawrence High School. He has lived in Methuen for many years. He was a longtime very active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lawrence and he served with The U.S. Army during World War II in The European Theater and in The Battle of The Bulge. Al worked as a carpenter and was well known for his woodworking skills. For many years, he worked as a sheet metal worker for Raymond Wirth Sheet Metal Company, Methuen and Forcier Sheet Metal Company, Ballardvale. He retired from Lincoln Laboratories of M.I.T., Lexington, MA.
The widower of Mildred O. (Fraas) Hertrich, his family members include his son, Russell E. and his wife, Kristine Hertrich of Methuen; and his daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” and her husband, Joseph Gilmore of Methuen. He leaves four grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Rebecca Hertrich of Methuen, Andrew Gilmore and his fiancé, Patty Milner of Methuen, Amy and her husband, Jeff Pellerin of Haverhill, and Tom and his wife, Bethany Gilmore of Salem, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Haylie, Jenna and Thomas and two nephews, Robert and Richard Hertrich.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Friday March 8, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 163 E. Haverhill St., Lawrence. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence will be private.
