Lawrence — William J. McCarthy, 76, of Lawrence died on Monday October 8, 2012 at Lawrence General Hospital. Mr. McCarthy was born, raised and educated in Lawrence and has lived in Lawrence all of his life. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a graduate of Merrimack College. For many years and before his retirement, Bill worked as a chemist for The Lawrence Water Department. He was a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish, Lawrence and also served with The US Army. He enjoyed wintering in Florida. Bill was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed reading and especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.
His family members include his wife of 42 years, Carol A. (Craig) McCarthy of Lawrence. He leaves his son, Steven C. McCarthy and his companion, Heather Clark of New Jersey and his daughter, Lynn M. and her husband, Keith Andelman of Andover. He also leaves his grandsons, Michael and Charlie Andelman and his sister-in-law and brother in-law, Constance and Dennis Hogan of Pelham, NH. and 4 nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Thursday October 11, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm at The Arthur J. Scott Funeral Home, 298 South Broadway, Lawrence. A funeral mass will be on Friday October 12 at 11:30 am in St Michaels Church, 190 Main St., N. Andover, MA. Burial will be in West Parish Cemetery, Andover.
