Haverhill — Alexander M. Lio-MacDougall, 25, of Haverhill passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening at his home.
He was born in Boston on September 26, 1987, son of William H. MacDougall and Marlene Lio-MacDougall.
He was a 2002 graduate of Dexter School in Brookline, and a 2006 graduate of Lawrence Academy in Groton. He was a National Latin Scholar while at Dexter and co-captained his varsity football team in high school and played numerous sports. He attended the University of Tampa in Tampa, Fla. and most recently was working with a great group of guys at Sea of Green in Byfield.
Alex was a fun loving young man who brought a smile to many. He made friends with ease. He will be especially missed by his two loving sisters. He was a protective, caring and nurturing big brother. He loved his sisters unconditionally. He helped his older sister navigate growing up, from learning to ride a bike to driving a car. They had a special bond. His 13th birthday present was his younger sister who will miss his help with her math, but not his teasing. His parents and grandmother will miss his daily presence and lost future; but find solace in 25 years of wonderful memories of a kind and sweet young man with a heart of gold whose smile and infectious laugh brought joy to their lives.
In addition to his parents, Alex is survived by his two sisters, Eden A. Lio-MacDougall and MacKenzie I. Lio-MacDougall of Haverhill; paternal grandmother, Lucy MacDougall of Bradford; and his uncle Adalberto Lio and his wife Ada Borrero of Florida. He leaves great-aunts, Mrs. Eleanor Dagianis, Mrs. Dorothy Early; great-uncle, Mr. Steven Karekos of Florida, numerous cousins and relatives locally and in Florida and Cuba. He also leaves behind, with his family, his best friend his dog “Capone.”
