Catherine M. "Kay" Murphy, 80

Methuen, MA — Catherine M. "Kay" Murphy, a longtime resident of Methuen, MA, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Lawrence, MA, Kay was educated at St. Rita's Grammar School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1953. She had worked as a nurse for 25 years at the Holy Family Hospital. Kay followed the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed gardening. She was very devoted to St. Monica's Church and all the Novenas.

The daughter of the late John and Ellen (Sullivan)Murphy, Kay is survived by two brothers: John "Spud" Murphy of Methuen, MA, Joseph Murphy of Andover, MA, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Murphy and Timothy "Tiger" Murphy.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. in St. Monica's Church, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. Family and friends may call on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
