Naples, FL — John R. Martone, 94, of Naples, Fla., formerly of North Andover, Mass., passed away on July 3, 2013. He was born on February 17, 1919, and was the son of the late Decorosa and Rachella of Lawrence, Mass. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1937.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After a successful career as an electronics technician, he retired from AT&T. John and his beloved wife have made their home in Florida for the past 32 years. He was a parishioner at St. Agnes Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 57 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, baseball as a Yankees fan, sports, and most of all his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He married his devoted, loving wife, Aida Ciocca, on December 28, 1941. They were married for 71 years, and lived their lives in love. Besides his wife, John is survived by his son, Rodney Martone and his wife, Patricia, of Nashua, N.H.; his daughter, Maureen and her husband, Kevin Hibbard of Naples; his grandchildren, Christopher Martone and his wife, Lauren, of Manchester, N.H., Stephen Martone and his wife, Angela, of Belmont, Mass., Kathryn Letter and her husband, Mike, of Cave Creek, Ariz., and 2nd Lt. Shawn Hibbard USAF. Besides his wife, children and grandchildren he is survived by his great-grandson Michael M. Letter; his sister, Mollie Gueli of Methuen, Mass.; and his supportive brother-in-law, Rudy Ciocca and his wife, Joan; as well as nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
ARRANGEMENTS: A visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd., Naples, and a Mass will be held on Friday July 12, 11 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Rd., Naples. Burial to follow at Palm Royale Cemetery.
