Atkinson, NH — Arthur “Artie” Najem, 93, of Atkinson, N.H., passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Joseph Azar Najem and Eva (Said) Najem. He was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1938.
Arthur was a member of St. George Orthodox Church. He enjoyed all aspects of being outdoors - gardening, camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of Andover Sportsmen’s Club, Andover/No. Andover YMCA, American Legion Post 122. He also enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes F. (Keter) Najem; sons, Tom Najem and his wife, Linda, of Windham, N.H., Ken Najem and his wife, Cindy, of Derry, N.H.; daughters, Paula Senia of Salem, N.H., Judy Timko and her husband, Mike, of Andover, Donna Avakoff and her husband, Ed, of Burlingame, Calif., and Peg Sinewitz and her husband, Gary, of Hudson, Mass. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Arthur was predeceased by his sisters, Adele, Florence, Irene and Agnes; and his brother, George. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at United Lebanese Cemetery, Lawrence.
