North Andover, MA / Winchester, MA — Catherine E. Danahy of North Andover died peacefully at the home of her brother, William F. Danahy, sister-in-law, Anna Geron Danahy and nephew, Joseph E. Danahy in Winchester, Mass., surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 9, after a long illness. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., daughter of the late Joseph P. Danahy and Eleanor Doyle Danahy of Lawrence, and sister of the late Mary Danahy Fenton of Atkinson, N.H.
She is also survived by her brother, Joseph P. Danahy and his wife, Cidalia, of Danville, N.H.; brother-in-law, Richard K. Fenton of San Francisco; nephews, Adam Fenton of Atkinson, N.H., Ian Fenton and his wife, Brooke, of Salem, N.H.; niece, Kasey Danahy Johnson of Colorado; grand-nieces, Clare Elizabeth of Salem, N.H., and Lucy of Colorado; and grand-nephew, Rion of Colorado; as well as numerous cousins.
Catherine was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lawrence and attended St. Michael's Parish in North Andover. She was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Welfare for over 35 years.
She was devoted to her family, contributed generously to a number of charitable organizations, and enjoyed simple gatherings with family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are Sunday, 5 to to 8 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA 01845. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Mass on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA 01845.
