Methuen — Phyllis E. (Gioia) D’Agati, 79, of Methuen, died Monday at her residence surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born on May 7, 1933, in Lawrence, Mass., to the late Salvatore and Santina (Grasso) Gioia.
She attended Lawrence schools and was employed in the shoe manufacturing industry. She was employed at Lawrence Maid, the Bolta Company, and more recently at Allen Shoe in Haverhill until her retirement.
Phyllis was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, her winter times spent in Seminole, Fla., and most importantly, cook-outs and any time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Salvatore D’Agati of Methuen; and her two sons, Michael D’Agati of Methuen and James D’Agati and his wife, Susan, of Danville N.H. Phyllis is also survived by her two daughters, Sandra D’Agati of Derry N.H., and Maria D’Agati of Saugus; her brother, Frank Gioia and his wife, Carol, of Methuen; and her two sisters, Joyce Huntress of Freemont, N.H., and Ellen Gioia of Methuen. She was predeceased by her brother, Salvatore Gioia. Also among her survivors are her five grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Melissa, Julianna and Alec, and her great-granddaughter, Isabella, as well as several nieces and nephews.
