James Francis McCloskey, 77


Brockton, MA — James F. McCloskey, age 77, a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam Era and served in Panama, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton. Born in Salem the son of the late Donald F. and H. Marie (McGrath) McCloskey, he was raised and educate in Salem Schools. Following his graduation from St. John’s Prep, Danvers, he attended Merrimac College until he joined the United States Army. Once discharged, he continued to serve the county and joined the United States Marine Corps.

Once he returned to civilian life, he had been employed by Northeast Airlines, was later in security for the City of Boston, and retired from the Parker House, Boston.

He appreciated the arts, was an accomplished marine photographer and enjoyed great concert music.

He is survived by two brothers, John M. “Jack” McCloskey, of Marblehead, and Joseph D. McCloskey, of Andover, and a cousin, Marie Ward, of Marblehead, as well as a large extended family.

ARRANGEMENTS: His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours. Interment will be private.
