Andover, MA — John J. "Jack" Brown, 84, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Lawrence General Hospital with his wife Isabelle at his bedside. Jack was born in Arlington, the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Buckley) Brown. He graduated from Arlington High School and was a 1954 graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point, NY. Jack was discharged in 1958 as a commissioned Ensign of the US Navy and Third Officer of the US Merchant Marines. Jack was employed for many years as an accountant at Mead Corp., and later was the office manager at the Boyd Corp. Jack was considered by many as a "true gentleman" who enjoyed reading of politics and current events. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Jack is survived by his wife of 28 years, Isabelle (Bistany) Brown of Andover; one brother, James Brown and his wife Patricia, of Melrose; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Boustany, of Lebanon, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Joseph and Edward Brown.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral mass will be offered, Friday, April 19, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen. Friends may call Friday, 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence St., Lawrence, Mass.
