Plaistow, NH — Ralph L. Wade Jr., MD, FACEP, 60, of Plaistow, N.H., died on Sunday at Lahey Clinic, Burlington, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Ralph L. Wade Sr. and Ellen T. (Linehan) Wade. He was raised in Lynn, a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1971, and resided here for most of his life, before moving to Plaistow in the 1980s. He received his bachelor's degree in Biology from Merrimack College and his medical degree from the UMass Medical School, Worcester, Class of 1979.
He was a teacher at the UMASS-Worcester Medical Center. He also worked at NSMC-Salem Hospital, Atlantic Care Medical Center, North Shore Trauma Center, formerly Lynn Hospital, and also the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill.
He was a compassionate and caring physician, who saved many lives working as a board-certified fellow of emergency medicine for over 15 years.
Ralph had a passion for baseball. He was an umpire and, since 2001, served both Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire as vice president of training and education for the MVUA. He was also a member of the GLBUA. For the last six years, he served as program coordinator and taught paramedic technology at Northern Essex Community College in Lawrence.
He leaves his brother, John S. Wade Sr. and his wife, Gail, of Danvers; and his sister, Denise Nardone and her husband, Edward, of Lynn. He is also survived by his three nephews, Edward A. Nardone Jr., John S. Wade Jr., and Spencer J. Wade; and niece, Jessica E. Nardone.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Friday, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
