Enfield, CT — Wayne R. Vose, 72, of Enfield, beloved husband of Kathleen (Chisholm) Vose, passed into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2013. He was born on May 10, 1941, in Haverhill, MA to the late Ralph S. and Edith (Smith) Vose, and resided in Enfield for 46 years. Wayne was a graduate of Salem State University and retired from ING Insurance Company where he worked as a Life Insurance Underwriter. A lover of sports, he was a coach with the Enfield Petticoat Softball League and the Enfield Hockey Association and he enjoyed refereeing hockey games for over 30 years. His family was the center of his life. Wayne was the proudest and most supportive fan of his children and grandchildren when he attended their sporting events and school activities. He was an avid Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball fan. Wayne also enjoyed hiking and collecting antique memorabilia. In addition to his wife of 49 years, Kathleen, Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kimberly Sherba and her husband, Peter, of Ellington, Robert Vose and his wife, Rita, of Enfield, and Garrett Vose of Windsor Locks; his cherished grandchildren, Brendan and Ryan Sherba and Lindsay, Thomas, Robert, Hailey, Caleb and Landon Vose; his siblings, Carol Grant and her husband, Daniel III, of Atkinson, NH, Cathy Karolow and her husband, Brian, of Bradford, MA, and J. David Vose of NC; a Godson, Eric Vose; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Wayne’s life will be held followed by burial in Hazardville Cemetery. Wayne’s family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT, during calling hours on Friday, November 15, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Wayne’s memory be made to The Wayne Vose Memorial Enfield Hockey Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Webster Bank, 50 Freshwater Boulevard, Enfield, CT 06082.
