Sam F. Waterhouse, 87, of Hampton, died peacefully, Friday, May 4, 2012, at Langdon Place of Exeter.
He was born in Methuen, MA June 5, 1924 a son of the late Sam and Ann (Heron) Waterhouse.
Sam grew up in Salem, MA and graduated from Woodbury High School with the Class of 1942. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served 3 years during WWII. After his time in the service Sam attended the University of New Hampshire where he received his Bachelor's and later Master’s degree.
Mr. Waterhouse was an entrepreneur who started numerous businesses with his longtime business partner Fred Schaake. His most notable businesses were Waverly News Agency and Fowle’s News of Newburyport, MA, as well as the Hampton Beach Casino of Hampton.
Sam enjoyed wintering at his condo in Fort Myers, FL with his wife Barbara. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Exeter Country Club.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Sheehan) Waterhouse of Hampton; son Jeff Waterhouse and his wife Amy of Hampton; daughters, Cheryl of Boston, MA, Dale Waterhouse and her husband Joseph Pagliaccio of Bayville, NY, Nancy Depuy and her husband Fred of Newtown, CT; sister Claire Simensen of Salem; grandchildren, Cole, Wyatt, Harrison and Tucker Depuy of Newtown, Isabel and Julian Pagliaccio of Bayville, Samantha and Zachary Waterhouse of Hampton and Alexandra Waterhouse of Boston.
He was predeceased by his brother William Waterhouse.
Visiting hours will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
