Vincent F. Riviezzo

Dover, NH — Vincent F. Riviezzo, 74, of Dover, formerly of Salem, N.H., died Friday, June 14, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Vincent was born in Lawrence, Mass., on September 7, 1938, the son of the late Vincenzo J. and Christine H. (Monticelli) Riviezzo.

He was raised in Lawrence and was a graduate of the Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956. While at CCHS, Vincent was an All-Star football player, wearing the number “43” on several championship teams.

Vincent joined the Army in 1958, and was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. His military career spanned over 35 years of decorated active, and reserve service, retiring in 1995 with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. In addition to his military service, Vincent was a mechanical engineer for Lucent Technologies, previously Western Electric, in North Andover, Mass., for 38 years. Through his role at Lucent, he authored several patents for circuit design and was a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers.

After Vincent’s retirement in 2001, he and his wife Therese settled along the seacoast in Dover, N.H., to be closer to the water and his boat – “The Invincible.” In 2005, Vincent served as a FEMA volunteer, responding to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Since 1998, Vincent had been an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Vincent volunteered his time teaching recreational boating courses, conducted voluntary vessel safety checks, and sailed on search and rescue patrols. At the time of his passing, he was the Flotilla 28 Commander at Portsmouth Harbor Station.

In addition to his wife of over 42 years, Therese J. (Dubeau) Vincent, he is survived by a daughter, Kristin M. Letourneau and her husband, William, of Windham, N.H.; his sons, James C. Riviezzo of New York, N.Y. and Todd V. Riviezzo and his wife, Larissa, of Woodbridge, Va. Vincent was also an adoring Papa to his grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole and Ethan.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 18, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd, Hampton, N.H. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
