North Andover — Victor Miele, 90, a devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 15, 2013. He lived a phenomenal and accomplished life. For the past 54 years, in a house he and his bride Helen built in North Andover, he lived and raised a family.
One of 13 children, Victor was born in Lawrence on January 30, 1923, to the late Giuseppi and Mariarosa (Minicucci) Miele. He was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he attended watch repair school and worked at the Wood Mill in Lawrence.
Afterwards, Victor worked for 34 years at Bell Labs in North Andover as a Supervisor until he retired in 1984. In his early years of employment here, he attended Northeastern University in Boston and earned a Bachelor’s degree. He also attended Phillips Academy in Andover where he studied Math.
Victor was an avid golfer and bowler at Far Corner Golf Club in Boxford and Academy Lanes in Bradford, respectively. He enjoyed his retirement years with his wife, sons, grandchildren, and friends. For 24 years, he proudly served as an Ombudsman for Elder Services of Merrimack Valley where he provided help and companionship to many elders in local nursing homes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Helen (Antolewicz) Miele of North Andover; sons, Stephen Miele of Warsaw, Poland, and Matt Miele and his wife, Danielle, of Bradford; grandchildren, Cameron, Luca, Giacomo and Adam, brothers, Joseph Miele of Candia, N.H., and Michael Miele of Arizona; sister, Rosalie Croteau of Salem, N.H.; as well as many loved nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover, MA 01845. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover at 10 a.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Haverhill.
