North Andover, MA — Edward J. Greenspan, 90, of North Andover, Mass., passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014.
Born in Holyoke, Mass., on August 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Abraham and Clara (Meyer) Greenspan. Edward was an attorney and certified public accountant. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sonia “Sunny” (Baker) in 1985 and by his second wife Selma (Ruskin) Leed, in 2007. Edward is survived by his daughters, Judith Greenspan of Belmont, Mass., and Jennifer Hurwitz and her husband, Daniel, of Bedford, Mass.; his stepchildren, Paula Leed and her husband, Richard Aron of Andover, and Steven Leed and his wife, Elizabeth, of Andover; and his grandchildren, Joshua Greenspan, Ronia and Addie Hurwitz, and Bernard and Caroline Leed.
A Holyoke High graduate, Edward studied at Massachusetts State College, then served in WWII on the island of Kwajalein. He graduated from Boston University in 1947, and Harvard Law School in 1950. For four decades, he practiced law and accountancy in Holyoke with his father and his uncle, the late Samuel Greenspan. He was a member of Congregations Sons of Zion and Rodphey Shalom in Holyoke, Mass., and Temple Emanuel in Andover.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, at 1 p.m., at the Sons of Zion Cemetery, 72 Ludlow Rd., Chicopee, Mass. Shiva will be held at the Hurwitz home on Thursday, February 20 and Saturday, February 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of the congregations listed above, or a charity of your choice.
