Lawrence — Antoinette M. (LaProva) Polizzotti, 96, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 2, 2014, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born on a farm in Pleasant Valley Methuen and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Ianuzzo) LaProva and also the widow of Frank J. Polizzotti.
Antoinette was a highly skilled seamstress, making custom made men's suits and coats for the former Paparella Brothers, and later Grieco Brothers men's clothing factory in Lawrence. With her sister, Sue, she opened a fur repair store on Merrimack Street in Haverhill, specializing in repair of fur coats and the custom redesign of fur coats into fur jackets, fur stolls, fur hats and fur wraps. When fur went out of style she returned to the clothing business. She was a member of the Sons of Italy, Ladies Garment Workers Union, and many social and civic organizations.
Antoinette is survived by her son, Joseph Polizzotti and his wife, Mary Ann, of Ocala, FL and Taunton, MA; her daughters, Rose Marie Schena and her companion, Bob Theis, of Beverly Hills, FL and Cheryl Fillipon and her husband, Leo, of Center Ossipee, NH; her siblings, Fred Yemma of Methuen, Florence LaProva of El Monte, CA, Betty Borelli of Methuen and Anna Indeglia of Lawrence. She also leaves her 12 loving grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Antoinette was predeceased by her siblings, Charles LaProva, Domenic Yemma, Joseph Yemma, Anthony Yemma, Phyllis Yemma, Jenny Giroud and Susan Viglione.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Sunday, April 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7, at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Chruch, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
