Clare Frances Richard, 88


Crestview, FL — Clare Frances (Marchand) Richard, 88, of Niceville, Fla., formerly of Peabody and Salem, Mass., and a 25-year resident of Plaistow, N.H., wife of the late Yoland Richard, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, at the Crestview Rehabilitation Center, Crestview, Fla.

Born in Marblehead and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Pauline Mary (Freeto) Marchand. While raising her three children, Clare spent most of her working life employed by local electronic manufacturing companies.

Clare twice battled cancer, first having a kidney removed at age 82, and later endured uterine cancer surgery at age 86, nine months following her January 2011, relocation to Florida.

Clare was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing bingo, completing word puzzles, and playing cards. Additionally, she was masterful at creating gifts for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends alike through her knitting and crocheting skills.

She is survived by her son, David A. Richard and his wife, Pauline, of Niceville; a daughter, Alice F. Carter and her husband, David, of Plaistow; another son, John F. Richard of Peabody; and, a sister, Lucille Tondreau and her husband, Normand, of Seabrook, N.H. She is also survived by granddaughter, Deirdre A. Connaghan, her husband, Scott and their children, Clare's great-grandchildren, Skyla, Danni and Jack of Peabody; grandson, David A. Richard Jr. and his wife, Argelis, and their children, Clare's great-grandchildren, Victoria, Matthew and Angelia, of Winder, Ga.; grandaughter Sonya S. Tieder and her husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Clare's great-grandchildren, Luke, twins David and Daniel, and twins Nathaniel and Jonathan of Ooltewah, Tenn.; granddaughter, Michelle L. Carter of Cambridge, Mass.; granddaughter, Nicole M. Richard of Seabrook, N.H.; and dozens of nieces, nephews and their offspring. She was preceded by her brother, Joseph H. Marchand; and her sisters, Mary Pauline Picone, Ruth Ann Gagnon, Elizabeth A. Julien, Dorothy I. Coombs, Katherine E. McKenzie, Margaret L. Levesque, Alice F. Blais, and Jeanne Marie Marchand.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Ceremony to be held at 10:30 a.m., on May 3, at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, followed by interment in Plaistow Town Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those inclined are encouraged to make donations to the American Cancer Society.
