Giovanni DiGiacomo, 90

Haverhill — Giovanni DiGiacomo, 90, of Haverhill died Friday morning, January 4, at Wingate at Haverhill.

He was born in Bisegna, Italy, August 4, 1922, son of the late Donato and Assunta (Porreca) DiGiacomo.

Educated in Italy, Mr. DiGiacomo served in the Italian Army during World War II and was a P.O.W for two years. He lived in Belgium where he was a coal miner. Mr. DiGiacomo was a lumberjack in Italy and France, prior to moving to Haverhill in 1960. While in Haverhill he was employed as a mason and was a 50 year member of the Laborer’s Union Local 175. Mr. DiGiacomo owned and operated the family business The Dolphyn Motel, Hampton Beach, NH, was a member of All Saints Church and the former St. Rita’s Church, Haverhill.

An avid gardener, Mr. DiGiacomo enjoyed growing all types of vegetables.

His survivors include a daughter, Mary S. Sebring of Shrewsbury, two sons, Louie D. DiGiacomo and Gino DiGiacomo both of Haverhill, siblings, Nunziata Priore of Italy, and Ida Basile of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Andrew M. Sebring and his wife Jessica, Christopher J. Sebring, Giovanni DiGiacomo, a great granddaughter, Zoe Maria Sebring, his former wife, Agata D. (D’Orazio) DiGiacomo, former son-in-law, Stephen Sebring and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. DiGiacomo was also the brother of the late Antonio DiGiacomo and Lucia DiGiulio.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday morning, January 9 at 9:00 from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
