Methuen — Elaine T. (Albanis) Savastano, 78, of Methuen died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 8, 2012 after a long illness. Elaine was born in Dracut, and graduated from Lowell High School in 1952 where she was a girl officer. Elaine was an assistant buyer at AG Pollards, Lowell and Cherry & Webb, Lawrence. She was also employed at Little Town Toggery, Lawrence, Almy”s and Caldor’s, Methuen. She was an active member of First Church Congregational, Methuen where she served on many committees and was a former deacon. Mrs. Savastano started “Food for Caring” and was involved in The Prayer Shawl Ministry and she served as the first wedding coordinator for the church. She enjoyed attending the Methuen Senior Center, cooking and loved being with her grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late, Antonio and Vera (Hardy) Albanis. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Thomas E. Savastano and her three children, Paulajoy Savastano, Tom, Jr. and his wife, Linda Savastano and Dina E. and her husband, Peter Rossi. She also leaves her sister, Marina and her husband, Robert Cacici and their two children, Soraya and Paul; and her four grandchildren, Nicole and her husband, Matthew Benjamin, Anthony, Julia and Marc Furnaro; six step-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Albanis and her children and sisters-in-law, Christine and her husband, David Meaney and Donna and her husband, Vernon Heal, as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was predeceased by her brother, USMC, retired, Major, Constantine Albanis.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Monday, January 14, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. in First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant Street, Methuen. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant St., Methuen, MA.
