Ida J. Giuffrida, 91

Methuen, MA — Ms Ida J. Giuffrida, 91, formerly of Methuen died at Wingate of Andover on Saturday, February 2, 2013 after a short illness.

Born in Lawrence, Ms Giuffrida was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1939, and was educated as a bookkeeper. She started her career at Pacific Mills and then became a computer operator for the Internal Revue Service. With her skills in the newly emerging field of data processing, she moved to Bay State Merchants National Bank and enjoyed a successful banking career, retiring in 1987 from Bank of New England- Bay State as the Assistant Vice President in the data processing center.

She attended Holy Rosary Church and enjoyed summers at Salisbury Beach, frequent trips to Italy and Sicily, and in her retirement, trips to Foxwoods. She grew up in a large Italian family with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who were her lifelong friends and she was particularly devoted to her late brother, Domenic, and her sisters, Frances Sapienza and Mary Giuffrida who were her constant companions. In her later years she brought great joy into the lives of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by nephews Anthony Sapienza, Frank Sapienza, nieces Joanne Evangelista and Sally Sapienza , grand niece Emily Sapienza, and grand nephew Michael Sapienza, cousins Barbara Parslow, James Torresi, Maryann Piemonte, her caregiver Lilliana Tozzi, her best friend Edna Berube and numerous cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are kindly welcome to visitation on Monday evening from 6pm-8pm in the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at Corpus Christi Parish in Holy Rosary Church, Lawrence. Burial in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
