Andover — Carole J. (Wright) Derby, 79, of Andover, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover where she had been a resident since January of this year.
Carole was born in Andover on December 6, 1933, to the late Harry and Olive (Radcliffe) Wright. She graduated from local schools and was employed as a volunteer teacher's assistant at South School in Andover for many years. Carole was a longtime Andover resident.
She was a resident at Marland Place in Andover for 14 years where she enjoyed playing bingo and sing-alongs. Carole also loved spending time at her beach house in Seabrook, N.H., with family and friends and watching her Red Sox.
Carole was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Derby in 1994 and her sister, Barbara in 2008. She is survived by her son, Paul J. Derby Jr. and his wife, Jonelle, of Methuen; grandson, Christopher and his wife, Katelyn, of North Andover; grandson, Jonathan and his wife, Ashley, of Travis AFB, Calif.; and great-grandson, Brantley. Carole is also survived by her son, Michael Derby of Jupiter, Fla.; grandson, Sean; granddaughter, Kerri; and great-grandson, Dallas Michael. Also among her survivors are her son, Timothy and his wife, Andrea, of Newburyport and grandsons, Tanner and Connor. Carole also leaves her brothers-in-law, James Derby of Lawrence, Mass., Francis Derby of San Diego, Calif., and Jim Pringle of Calabash, S.C.; and her sister-in-law, Christine Marocco and her husband, Larry, of Andover; as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery also in Andover. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
