Dennisport, MA and Jensen Beach, FL — Frederick W. Lundgren, Jr., formerly of North Andover, Mass., passed away peacefully July 14, 2013, at his summer home in Dennisport. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., to the late Frederick W Lundgren, Sr. and the late Dorothy Parker Lundgren. He was brother to Karl Lundgren of Groton, Mass., and the late Dorothy Lutton. He attended Somerville High School and Northeastern University, and enlisted in the Navy, where he served in World War II for three years.
He has been described as a "salesman's salesman," holding the position of Vice President of Diagnostic Research Laboratory until the company was bought by Corning Medical. He retired in 1996.
Fred had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great storyteller and enjoyed the ocean, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Frances R. Lundgren; his son, Frederick W. Lundgren, III and wife, Lynn, of Welches, Ore.; his daughter, Pamela Cone and husband, Brad, of Salem, N.H.; son, Peter Lundgren of Dennisport; his late daughter, Karen Lundgren; and two stepdaughters. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Caren, Kim, Frederick IV, Julia and Jacqueline; and five great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: A burial service will be held at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, Mass., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, followed by a reception to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mugar Cancer Center at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass., or to the American Cancer Society.
