Haverhill — Ruth E. Marr, 96, of Haverhill died on Thursday, December 5, at the Penacook Place Nursing Home, Haverhill.
A lifelong resident of the city, Mrs. Marr was educated in the Haverhill School System, and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1935.
For over 12 years, she was employed as a secretary for Dr. Kenneth Boyd, and for over 30 years, was the bookkeeper for the former Cleary’s Cleaners, Haverhill. She was also employed for a period of time at AT&T, and also as an office worker for Northeast Medical Lab.
Mrs. Marr was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church, Haverhill, for over 75 years, and its Ladies Circle, the Haverhill Arts and Crafts Association, and a former member of the Haverhill Garden Club.
She was the wife of the late Clifton A. Marr, who died in 1997, and daughter of the late Mary and Gilbert Crowdis.
Her survivors include two sons, Gerald and his wife, Bonnie Marr of Plaistow, N.H., and Donald and his wife, Lucy Marr of Syracuse, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Kristy and Melissa Marr; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney and Gunnar Peters, and Chayce Marr.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday morning, December 10, at 11 a.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer Street, Haverhill. Burial will be private at the Hillside Cemetery, Haverhill, and at a future date. A visitation period will precede the funeral service on Tuesday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at the funeral home. A memorial service will also be held at the Universalist-Unitarian Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Universalist Unitarian Church, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
