Haverhill — Bertha “Betty” (Camarato) Barbuti, 97, of Haverhill, died peacefully at the Wingate of Haverhill on Friday, May 29, after a brief period of declining health.
She was born in Haverhill, April 28, 1917, and was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Hicks) Camarato. She was educated in the Haverhill School System.
For many years, Betty was employed at the former Fifth Avenue Shoe, where she had the special responsibility of handling all of the new sample shoes.
Betty was very generous to the members of her extended family, who all have wonderful memories of special times spent with Aunt Betty.
She was a true animal lover and she had many pets throughout her lifetime, including parakeets, monkeys and many dogs.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Barbuti of Haverhill, with whom she would have celebrated her 20th anniversary on June 2; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; as well as great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, June 6, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a funeral service, at 10:30 a.m., in Trinity Episcopal Church, 26 White St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
