Hampstead, NH — Monica C. Ward, 49, of Hampstead, N.H., passed away peacefully on July 4, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of Edwin Holahan of Reading, Mass., and the late Patricia (Harbaugh) Holahan.
Monica moved to Reading, Mass., by way of Chicago, when she was 12. She graduated with honors, and in later years, was inducted to the Reading High Hall of Fame for her track team accomplishments. Monica continued her education at the University of New Hampshire, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in health policy and management. In 1990, Monica and John married, and moved to the Hampstead area, and began their family with the birth of Kate in 1992. Samuel and Jackson came along in 1997 and 2001, respectively. As the children grew, she submerged herself in lots of volunteer work at the school, Girl Scouts and various sports organizations in town.
As her youngest, Jackson, entered 1st grade, Monica re-entered the workplace, and for the past six years, worked as an administrative assistant and energy efficiency specialist for National Grid and Liberty Utilities.
Besides her father, Monica is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, John F. Ward of Hampstead; her cherished children, Kate E. Ward, Samuel F. Ward and Jackson C. Ward, all of Hampstead. Monica also leaves her siblings, Lisa Tice and her husband, Walter, of Chelmsford, Mass., Thomas Holahan and his wife, Leona, of Washington, and Joseph Holahan and his wife, Beth, of Westford, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews and in laws.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, July 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Anne’s Church, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead. Interment will follow at West Hampstead Cemetery, Hampstead.
